Caryophyllaceae (Pink Family)

Base Flower Color: Red
Reproductive Phenology: Apr , May , Jun
Notes: The noun “pink” is first recorded in 1566, but not as the name for a color. “Pink” was the name for a flower, Dianthus plumarius after which the pinking shears were named. Cut a scalloped or zigzag edge on as in “I pinked the edge of the fabric”.
